You will be
Something extraordinary
Look into my eyes
You’re just like the sea;
I can’t keep you in a photo (so I’ll have to remember)
Listen to me
LOOK
At me
Let me fill you up with stories before you go
This old mind is too full of them
Let the streets flood behind you and, please,
Send me a postcard from forever when you get there
It should be such an adventure
To be airborne
Oh, my dear,
Your eyes haven’t been so windy
Since you broke like daylight over this slow heart
It’s okay
I’ll write the eulogy
You make the effigy
It’ll be just like old times
Only this time you’ll be the legend
And I’ll be the moon
Don’t cry
I’m sorry it has come to this
I can walk home from here
I know it’s dark but I’m used to it
Lace up your boots, kid
I’ll be seeing you
Leaving is hard
but being left behind is harder

I LOVE this. It feels like it's written to be performed. This would make a STRONG spoken word piece. Given my theater background, I'm very particular about performance pieces, as well as writing in general, but this.. this is a VERY strong performance piece!
